SINGAPORE – A 16-year-old boy who molested a teenage girl on a lift in June 2020 got into an argument with his father four months later, threatening the man with three knives.
The 19-year-old man punched his 49-year-old father in the face, causing a laceration on his left cheek.
The young man pleaded guilty to one count each of intimidation and assault on Tuesday.
He had been found guilty of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl.
Details of the case were not disclosed in court on Tuesday.
The perpetrator was with his father at Choa Chu Kang’s apartment on October 15, 2020.
Deputy prosecutor Matthew Chu said, “The victim had previously turned off the air conditioner when he turned it on in the defendant’s room.
“The defendant was doing gymnastics in his room at the time. In this way, the defendant entered the bedroom where the victim’s main power source was and switched it back on without the victim’s permission. ”
The father then said that the air conditioner should not be turned on because of the high electricity bill, so he turned off the mains electricity and turned it back on.
An argument broke out between the couple, and the teenager took three knives from the kitchen, brought them to his father’s bedroom, and threatened him.
The criminal’s two brothers intervened and he threw the knife to the floor.
Still dissatisfied, he charged at his father and punched the man in the face.
A brawl broke out and the teenage sister called the police.
Their father was then treated at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and given six days of medical leave.
On Tuesday, the court asked for a report to assess the teenager’s eligibility for probation.
He will be sentenced on February 28, 2023.
