SINGAPORE: On Friday (January 20), the Singapore Food Authority (SFA) issued a recall of strawberry-flavored EGO Swiss rolls after it was found to have exceeded acceptable levels of sorbic acid.

The batch affected is from Malaysia, weighs 176g and has a shelf life of September 3, 2023.

The agency has instructed the importer to recall the product as a precautionary measure. A recall is in progress.

“Sorbic acid is a permitted food additive used for preservative purposes,” said the SFA. “Consumption of affected products is unlikely to result in adverse health effects due to their low toxicity.”

However, consumers who have purchased related products and have health concerns should not consume it.

SFA added that they could contact the place of purchase.
