Man says he lost S$2,200 after DBS debit account was ‘hijacked’ and was given ’empty promises’ about settlement from bank

SINGAPORE — A private citizen has issued an open letter of complaint to DBS Bank after it lost more than S$2,000 from its bank account to fraudulent transactions. The account holder was expected to receive a new debit card within 7 days. However, when the specified period came, there was no renewal.

“My bank account was hijacked and fraudulent transactions were made against Korean clothing bangs,” the account owner wrote on the Facebook group Complaint Singapore on Saturday (31 December). On Dec 8, 2022 I was scammed of his S$2,263.72. When I contacted DBS bank to let them know, ‘Herfie’ told me that DBS would investigate and not only void the debit card but refund the money,” he said. When the day came and the money had not arrived, a bank customer called her Herfie. Herfie “kept empty promises” that the money would be returned within another week.

SINGAPORE — After an online user questioned the functionality of a ‘strange-looking lamp’ at an MRT station in Singapore, other Singaporeans shared their two cents on the issue.

A netizen shared a photo of an MRT station on Wednesday (December 28) with an online news forum. “Do these weird looking lamps do anything other than lighting? Saw this at an MRT station…looked weird and a bit out of place,” the caption reads.

They have many good things to say about the more than 100 countries they have visited so far, including neighboring Malaysia and Thailand, but there is one thing that really struck me about Singapore. Hudson and Emily More.

In a Dec. 22 TikTok video that has over 120,000 views, Emily said: Ok, I have an idea. What if you put the building on top of her other 3 buildings? What if we built a giant super tree and had another free light show every night? What if we put a giant waterfall in the middle of the airport?” I mean, of course, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and Jewel Changi Airport.

NUHS refutes Professor Paul Tambiya’s claim that the government is losing millions of dollars from Class A wards.

The National University Health System (NUHS) on Thursday 29 December 2022 denied claims by Singapore Democratic Party Chairman Professor Paul Tambier that the government was “losing millions of dollars from Class A wards.”

In a TikTok video posted on December 19, Professor Paul gave an example of HDB’s funding model, claiming that “the government is actually providing huge subsidies to wealthy foreigners.” However, these claims have been refuted by his NUHS, which he posted a statement to Facebook on December 29.

Singaporean traveler from China seriously ill with COVID-19, MOH monitors new variant, considers border measures

SINGAPORE — Changi Airport sees between 700 and 1,000 Chinese arrivals daily, and the Ministry of Health (MOH) has now put a Singaporean traveler from China to hospital after becoming seriously ill with Covid-19. We carefully monitor the workload of The MOH addressed public concerns about high levels of infections in China through a press release on Friday (30 December).

The majority of daily arrivals to Singapore consisted of residents and long-term pass holders. Every week, MOH is detecting between 40 and 80 her Covid-19 cases among travelers. All travelers had mild symptoms, except for a Singaporean who became seriously ill after a recent trip to China.
