TOKYO: The Sony Group posted a record annual profit on Friday on strong performances in its music and microchip divisions, but the company forecasts a smaller annual profit through next March.
The Japanese electronics and entertainment conglomerate’s operating profit totaled ¥1.21 trillion ($8.96 billion) in the year ended March 31, up 0.5% from the year.
Sony expects operating profit to fall 3.2% to 1.17 trillion yen this fiscal year. That equates to analysts’ expected average earnings of ¥1.275 trillion, according to Refinitiv data.
