JOHOR BARU: Children of one of the suspects involved in the murder of a 3-year-old boy have confirmed that they have seen abusive behavior.
Johor Police Chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said police had questioned the 28-year-old suspect’s two children.
“We have taken two of the suspect’s children to the Child Interview Center (CIC). According to the children, there is a positive element of abuse.
“They said they saw the suspect abusing the victim.
“However, as this is still under investigation, we cannot reveal any further information,” he told the media.
Two children are 5 and 7 years old.
Comm Kamarul also said there were signs of abuse on the victim’s body, including bruises.
“An autopsy has been carried out on the victim and so far it has been found that he has bruises on his body.
“But we are still waiting for the full experiment report to get the details,” he said.
He also added that police are investigating claims that the boy’s brother was also abused.
“We have been informed of this matter and will investigate further,” he said.
It turned out that the victim’s family had told the staff of the welfare department that the victim’s one-year-old brother was also being abused.
Comm Kamarul said police were notified of the incident after the victim’s father filed a report between 10:00 and 11:00 pm on Sunday night (2 October).
On Monday afternoon, police arrested a 28-year-old salesperson and a 40-year-old Indonesian maid, he added.
The two arrived handcuffed to court around 9 a.m. Tuesday.
“The victim’s father works in Singapore and his mother in Yongpeng. paid him.
“The victim and her one-year-old brother have been under the suspect’s care for three months,” he said at a news conference.
