Funeral in London – Britain’s Queen Elizabeth died this week after 70 years on the throne. It will take place on Monday, Sept. 19 at 10am (6pm Singapore time), England’s senior peer in charge of state affairs said on Saturday.
The Queen’s coffin will be flown from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh on Sunday before being airlifted to London on Tuesday.
She will then rest in Westminster Hall from Wednesday until the morning of her funeral at Westminster Abbey in London.
Marshal Edward Fitzalan-Howard said: “We will carry out our duty in the coming days with the heaviest of hearts, but with the firmest of ensuring a fitting farewell to one of the defining figures of our time. I’m also determined, Duke of Norfolk.
The Queen’s body is now enshrined in an oak coffin covered by Scottish royal standards, with a wreath placed above the ballroom at Balmoral Castle.
“It’s a quiet and dignified scene,” said a palace official.Reuters
