  • Make sure you are using the latest version of the OS and that the auto-update feature is enabled.
  • If upgrading to the latest OS version is not possible, organizations should consider this attack vector in their threat model and smartly isolate vulnerable nodes from the rest of the network.
  • Use a solution with exploit prevention technology that helps mitigate the risk of exploiting unpatched vulnerabilities found in obsolete operating systems (Windows 7 and earlier).
