Negotiations between Apple and Chinese battery makers are said to have come to a dead end

Negotiations between Apple and Chinese battery makers are said to have come to a dead end

According to Reuters, Apple’s electric vehicle (EV) project is an obstacle.

Three sources claim that China’s CATL and BYD have teamed up and refused to build a factory dedicated to Apple in the United States. In addition, it is not possible to hire enough people to develop individual products to work with Apple.

A Chinese company notified Apple two months ago that it couldn’t meet the requirements, but iPhone makers want to resume negotiations. Apple is also believed to be considering a Japanese battery maker and has sent a team to Japan.

Reuters reported four months ago that Apple was in early talks with CATL and BYD. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s EV is estimated to arrive as early as 2025, and the first-generation model is likely to be autonomous.
