Petaling Jaya – Malaysia’s opposition party Pelikatan Nacional (PN) has announced a shadow cabinet, with Speaker Muhyiddin Yassin expected to lead the line-up as the head of parliament.
In the shadow cabinet, known as the Pelicatan Parliamentarian Portfolio Committee, Abdul Hadi Awan, leader of the Islamic Semalai Party (PAS), will become Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s vice president.
PN Secretary General Hamzah Zainuddin will remain as opposition leader in parliament.
PAS Secretary General Thakiyuddin Hassan is the shadow interior minister, and Bersatu Vice President Raj Mund Ziddin is the shadow finance and economy minister.
Other notable appointments include former Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah as Shadow Minister of Education and Higher Education, and Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim as Shadow Minister for Rural and Regional Development.
Tan Sri Muhyididn said the PN aims to be an effective and responsible opposition party.
“Various briefings on our duties and responsibilities were held to explain the current situation,” he said.
Muhyiddin said the shadow cabinet will have a research team of experts to help shadow ministers improve their portfolio skills and knowledge.
“They have a duty and a responsibility to help the country solve the problem,” he added.
He also said that the PN secretariat occasionally issues policy statements on various issues such as economy, education, environment, defense and security.
“We will put it out there so people can see who we are. We are ready to take on greater responsibility if the people give us the task of leading the country again.” Muhyiddin said.
Among other notable appointments to the PN’s MP Portfolio Committee are Pasir Mas MP Tuan Ahmad Fadli Shah Ali as Shadow Minister for Youth and Sports and Ms. Mas Elmiyati Samsudin as Shadow Minister of Justice and Institutional Reform. I was.
