ISTANBUL: At least four people were killed and more than 30 injured on Sunday (November 13) as an explosion rocked a busy pedestrian street in central Istanbul and people fled from the fiery blast. said the local governor and a released video.

As ambulances rushed into the crowded Istiklal shopping district, police quickly cordoned off the area. The area, located in the city’s Beyoğlu district, was as usual crowded with shoppers, tourists and families, TRT and other media reported.

The state-run Anadolu Agency said the cause of the explosion was not yet known.

Istanbul Governor Ali Yelikaya said on Twitter that “life has been lost and injured”, adding that the explosion occurred around 4:20 pm local time (9:20 pm Singapore time).
